| Built over 85 years ago, the Freeman House was an experiment born out of Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision of a new kind of architecture for the middle class and for modern America and it stands as a case study of the fascinating and complex world of historic preservation. Hear the story of this complicated house from pre-construction to present day from Jeffrey Chusid, who lived in the house and later became its director and preservation architect. Chusid discusses the power of Wright’s architecture, the interaction of people and place, and the concepts and challenges of historic preservation. For photos of the Freeman House, click here. Tickets: $18 Jeffrey Chusid is an architect and professor in the historic preservation planning program at Cornell University. He has taught at Harvard, the University of Southern California, the University of New Mexico and the University of Texas at Austin. |
