MMRF PowerTeam: 2012 Nautica New York City Triathlon
TEAM MMRF – 2012 Nautica New York City Triathlon
Each year over 3000 athletes brave the waters of the mighty Hudson River before biking along Manhattan's West Side highway. Finally, athletes put on their running shoes for a run through New York's famed Central Park. The Nautica New York City Triathlon is an Olympic Distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run. We have a limited number of entries for one of the ‘hottest tickets’ in the TRI community! Join our team and claim yours!
The MMRF invites you to help us raise awareness and funds for multiple myeloma research by taking part in a physical challenge. We have made it easy to support the MMRF while participating in this incredible event. We will be with you every step of the way, from the moment you sign up to the incredible moment that you cross the finish line in Central Park. Participating on our team promises to be one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of your life.
Team members are required to raise a minimum of $2500 each, and will be provided with a personal donation page, tips and sample emails and access to full time fundraising support should they need it. Team members pay $250 at the time of registration, which covers the cost of their event registration, a team shirt, a 16 week training online plan and other amenities. Team members who are on track with their fundraising four weeks before the event will be offered a Champion brand MMRF cycling jersey.
In order to ensure that 90% of all funds raised go back to fund myeloma research, each MMRF athlete will be responsible for costs such as transportation and hotel accommodations. The MMRF will cover the entry fee for this event.
About the MMRF and Multiple Myeloma The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. The MMRF is the world's largest private funder of myeloma research. An outstanding 90% of all funds raised go toward research and related programming. Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
Why Run for our Team? Our teams raise money and awareness for cancer research. Many members of our teams have a direct connection to multiple myeloma. Others join us to support a great organization that is transforming the way that medical research and drug development are being conducted. All team members are proud to support an organization that is using their money responsibly and is one of the nations' highest rated charities by 'watch dogs' like Charity Navigator, which rates the MMRF in the top 1% of all charities it monitors.
