Celebrities in The Village

The place known as Greenwich Village is known for many things, great food, great entertainment, and is a wonderful hub of culture for New York City. Greenwich Village has been the backdrop and setting of many great films and cultural events as well. Iconic in nature, Greenwich Village has a distinct charm and quieter hub feeling in contrast to the other parts on New York City.

Over the years some of the greatest entertainers have gotten their start in the café’s and venues of Greenwich Village such as James Taylor, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Barbra Streisand, The Lovin' Spoonful, Jackson Browne, and Eric Andersen, just to name a few.

Today some of the greatest celebrities live in and around the quaint place they call "The Village". Including actresses/actors such as; Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Jonathan Davies, Uma Thurman, Edward Norton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julia Roberts, Leontyne Price, Amy Sedaris, and other famous people such as Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former U.S. President George W. Bush. Other famous residents include American designer Marc Jacobs, feature writer Calvin Trillin, of The New Yorker Magazine, Alt-country/folk musician Steve Earle, CNN’s reporter Anderson Cooper, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
